Brad Paisley

I saw Brad at the Superpages.com center at Fair Park in Dallas last September (or was it August). While I had a covered seat, it rained the entire night but nobody left. Brad does everything live you here on his recordings and then some. He is constantly working one song into the next. No style points but double bonus for lead vocals. Not many musicians can hold down the lead vocals and lead guitar let alone dominate with the guitar. Count Brad among those who can. So what is the deal with the cartoons?

Eddie Perez

I saw Dwight Yoakam last Friday in Mesquite. Very pleasantly surprised. Eddie Perez (the nominee) was outstanding, absolutely dominating without stepping on Dwight's vocals or acoustic play. I have never heard a better telecaster (or was it a Tomkins?). They played two hours stopping for about a minute once to let the mayor give Dwight the key to the city. Aside from that they never stopped, going from one song to the next, hustling through instrument changes without stopping. I had a strange desire to smoke a cigarette at the end. It was that good. Bonus points to Eddie for background vocals and style, which reminds me, where can I get a jacket like that?
